Hi dead blog!
Its me again.

Sorry, i wasnt writing shtick and usual knick knacks to you.
I have always wanted to pen my thoughts.
But i lost my need of desire for a while.

Man, its been close to a year.
Im not sure where i’ve been all those time.

This is probably why i had always prefered the Irish Football team than England’s.
Most of my favourite alltime E.P.L defenders surprisingly seem to come from Ireland (Gary Kelly, Gary Breen, Ian Harte, Matt holland).

And of cos, Sinead O connor.
First heard abt her in 1995 when i was 13, and i thot she was another alanis morissete gone botak.
Back then i thot her music sucks.
As i grew up, i kept hearing a lot of good positive things abt her. Mostly from the Alternative music circle. But i continued not checking out any of her albums.

Forward to 2005, i soon learned from the punk circle of friends who she really was.
And now, i have collected close to three of her albums.
And i seriuosly thought i was more punk than her.
Haunting voice. A message behind her lyrics. An advocate for peace.
Much so like a female version of MJ

OK, I want to talk about Ireland
Specifically I want to talk about the “famine”

Every year there will be  a day to talk about…
Superstition,Prophecies, numerology, or probably just another day where everybody wake up and go TO work.

Since 2006, date 6/06/06, i had hoped that that metors crashed on america like in those movies or aliens came to earth n tried to kidnap KUMAR.
But on a serious note, seriously, i think human race would treasure one another if disasters or at least sumthing weird or unexplained happen on ‘special days’…. Stop and just think about it.

Swine Flu Attacks ! (a dawn of a new epidemic?)

Well, well,  the ppl up in heavens has started to reduce human lives before Armageddon day by creative ways such as viruses n plagues again… dis time the Swine flu aka H1N1 virus..

Man,  i have always think that socio-political apocalyptic and dystopian  movies like I am Legend, i-robot,  Resident evil, The hills have eyes etc was made to tell a story of  humans and their undeniable greed to self-destruction.
I mean, seriously those movies can come true in future if  “itchy” scientists abuse the use of viruses, BIOLOGICAL WARFARE or medical technology or folks  trusting too much on robot technology and so on…

But for now, the flu plague has come and though it has not affected asia yet, monsoon winds, -other than human carriers-, can make the airborne disease travel here faster before u can even say S-W-I-N-E.
The flu virus will get worse in months to come and it will definitely test humanity.
Man, as if Armageddon 2012 isn’t enough to get worried upon…/ But hey, if things do get worse, we can always blame Big Bird

Overthrowing the Normal Culture of Agriculture

Food is a ‘language’ spoken in every culture. And i think it’s an important cultural revolution if chemical toxins and environmental harm are radically reduced, if not eliminated from the food that we eat.
And that’s organic food.
SUPERBly expensive, hard to find but really goody good for you…
Organic is not necessarily the most efficient farming system in the short run.
It is slower, harder, more complex and more labor-intensive. But for the sake of culture everywhere, from permaculture to human culture, organic should be celebrated at every table.

Im still learning about organic food and clothing, and all this despite me hating greens and veggies.
Well not all veggies. For one, potatoes and onions are my fav. veggies. Duh?
And peppers, cucmbers, carrots are some of the vegetables i touch too… Well, the fact is, i rarely take leafy vegetables. Well unless im in  a guest’s home or if i havent eaten for Years…
And yes, tofu is still the best there is too.
I tasted organic beancurd once, and it tasted like paper… but well….at least its healthier though…

One things for sure, i think organic farming is form of rebellion. And organic food enthusiasts are actually passive activists in disguise who really want to take care of thier body and also the earth.
So try organic. Its not as big as going vegan, putting off red meat or living in green energy but  its still a worthwhile commitment nontheless. And its a great start too…

1 Month of Suck-Thumb

1 Month of Hari Raya.

If you non-muslims out there are wondering why ah Hari raya is sooooo special until it can go for one whole bloody month, well im afraid i cant tel you the real answer….

It was the morning of Hari Raya. And like any other mornings, it was Hot. And Humid.
But instead of having a morning breakfast on Raya morning with the family, here i am stoned and incredibly rooted to a plastic chair at a kopitiam with Terence and Vivian. Terence was on his 3rd beer and vivian was sipping teh halia when I finally realized from my psychedelic-daydreamin that i had i had worked thruout the whole day yesterday and hung out with terence until the next morning. I wasnt planning to celebrate Hari Raya this year anyway. Plus, I have always hated the hustle and bustle of malam rayas and preparation of this n that…

“Aei, i ask you something ah- why Hari Raya ah one month… My malay frens always say one month… ,” Terence Blurted.

Before i could gave my answer, Vivian interupted and said, ” Dat’s because Fasting one month what…”, before turning to me and giving me a confident look…

Hmmm, that was one of the things i wanted to say anyway, i thought to myself..
“Something like that la.” I said, with eyes blurry from lacked of sleep.
And then i told them how ONE day of hari raya will never be enough for a family who has ties with a million other families……
“You got the father’s side, The mother’s side relatives, grandma la, GrandAunt or uncle, and right down to the cat’s foster family etcetera-etcetera…”. I smirked.

“Oh, like that…., thats why lah, even 1 month after hari raya, i still see ppl wear baju kurung with one family all same colour hari raya in the MRT…. “
Heck, i wont be surprised if muslims still go jalan-jalan in baju kurung even after 1 or 2 months after hari raya… (hah!). Like i said, malay families have the tendecy to have ties with a dezillion other Families.
One day-abt 2-3 houses. And if ur lucky it shoots to 6 homes in one day… And if a family goes to your house, you would have to reply by visiting thiers too…
That’s Just Fantastik, rite!
An hour later my sister, then my dad called my cellphone. I told them i wasnt gonna celebrate.
When i reached home at about 1pm, they were gone. All 5 of my family members. Grandparents place assumably.

Im in awe of this comic-strip lately. LIO by Mark Tatulli is a cool, wicked cartoon done with a quirky taste, and i found out abt it recently while filpping in the comic section of the local weekend newspaper SUNDAY PLUS.

Now, i look anticipately for Lio’s comics every sunday to provide sum wicked laughs.

With the introduction of all new free-to-air OKTO channel this coming october, viewers will finally see another channel reign free. That’s right, local Tamil Channel, Vansantham is finally a full-fleged channel. This probably isnt big news if you’re a typical Chinese or Malay but for years, i used to find it outrageous that Vansantham, Kids Central and Arts Central. plus ads and commercials in both English and Tamil were all rolled into one channel.

Insane. i cant see why MEDIACORP cant extend it to probably 2 channels from CENTRAL when there’s actually two free-to-air mandarin speaking channels on TV.I dont friggen care abt the demographics or whose population is the largest here, but having a Tamil channel on its own should be fair in this “democratic” country so to speak. Alarmingly, it took years for MEDIACORP to finally realize that…///

I used to love Channel i. And i still prefered Chanel i over Chn 5. Channel i, though demised, was like an opposition party who wanted something different on TV. And it shows. I remembered taping better alternative programmes, cult and b-movies, and the station featured actors who were from artisitc stage/thearthe backgrounds, i.e. namely, Cynthia Lee Macquarie, Karen Tan, Adrian Pang and on and on.So when they scrapped Channel i, and left Channel U on, thousands of ppl like me were left for dead.

Well, i just hope OKTO becomes more open-minded and decide to showcase more artistic films than the blockbuster crap on channel 5 and hopefully feature cult/indie films and “liberal” programmes like Goodness Gracious Me, Everybody hates Chris, American Dad and to documentaries by Miachel Moore. But then again, anything is better than stoopid animes and manga….

The Noose rawks and its def one of the best thing or things, to come out of the channel 5 (and the TV) after a bloody long time. More productions should be like dat, i think. Being bold and taking digs at parliament, policies and beyond. Albiet tamer compared to western talkshows and spoof comedies, The Noose is a start nontheless. Something’s telling me that the guys behind the production may have had or stole influences from the wondrous Weird Al’ Yankovic… Good cause, still. And if u ppl can remember, The RARA show and GURMIT’s WORLD were the local driving force that started it all. Poking fun at social and political issues in Singapore…

Well, whatever it is, i hope there’ll be a 2nd season for the news,… i mean,… The Noose….

Only bad thing about this is, Mediacorp is owned by SPH Holdings. And SPH’s big daddy happens to be the media-controlling P.A.P (the wonderful and excellente’ governing party!!!).
